The Department of Architectural Engineering at Cairo University, rooted in the Mohandeskhana established by Mohamed Aly Pacha in 1816, has a rich history in architectural education. Relocated to Giza in 1905, the department became part of Cairo University in 1935. It is a leading institution in architecture and planning in Egypt and the region, with alumni including notable a.rchitects like Aly Labib Gabr and Sayed Karim.
The department offers a B.Sc. in Architectural Engineering, qualifying graduates for professional licensure, along with postgraduate programs leading to Diplomas, Master’s, and Doctoral degrees.
Contribution to the PRO-GREEN-LABS project
Cairo University plays a significant role in various project work packages. It leads Task T2.1 – Updated Needs Analysis I, focusing on developing a detailed and output-driven needs analysis to better report on educational, societal, and market needs in the partner countries and their Higher Education Institutions (HEIs).
Additionally, Cairo University leads Work Package 3 (WP3): DEVELOPMENT I: LAB Network, which aims to establish the essential “HARD” CAPACITIES for lab units to function as specialized entities integrated with SEMED HEIs and connected with local, regional, and global actors.
