P4 - Alexandria University

Established in 1942 following a royal decree and was initially named Farouk University. The university’s mission is to offer an accessible, adaptable, and challenging environment that fosters graduates and research to meet the needs of national, regional, and international communities. With 21 multidisciplinary faculties, Alexandria University is one of Egypt’s largest and most prestigious institutions of higher learning.

The Faculty of Fine Arts at Alexandria University was inaugurated in 1957, making it the second such faculty established in Egypt.

The first dean was the renowned Egyptian sculptor Ahmed Osman. Initially part of Helwan University, the Faculty of Fine Arts became part of Alexandria University in 1989. The faculty is located in the eastern part of Alexandria and occupies four premises. It offers a five-year academic program leading to Bachelor’s, Master’s, and PhD degrees in Fine Arts and Architecture. The Department of Architecture aims to produce architects who can shape the built environment while considering technological, cultural, ecological, and socio-economic factors.

Contribution to the PRO-GREEN-LABS project

As the Leader of WP6 and Co-Leader of WP7, AlexU ensures the effective delivery of the developed modules, maintaining high educational standards and assessing the course content, teaching methods, and student outcomes.

AlexU is responsible for the project’s implementation, which includes delivering the master program at UOP and individual modules at another partner country HEIs, along with operational lab units.

The master program and courses will utilize the project’s main outputs, such as the updated curricula and fully functional “joint” labs.

This task also involves setting up innovative measures like student, researcher, and teaching staff exchanges for limited periods.

During implementation, in collaboration with WP7, evaluation measures will be conducted to identify and address any deficiencies promptly.

By the end of this task, comprehensive recognition and future recommendations will be provided to enhance the project’s sustainability.
