CT Lab – City Transformations Lab Resumes Activities under Pro-GREEN-LABs:

The Faculty of Fine Arts at Alexandria University is pleased to announce the resumption of activities of the City Transformations Lab (CT Lab) within the framework of the Pro-GREEN-LABs Erasmus+ Project. This milestone marks the launch of the Lab’s first activity under the project, reaffirming its role as a platform for research, experimentation, and creative engagement with urban transformation and heritage.

In September 2025, CT Lab organized Summer School 2025: “The Tram – A Journey through Alexandria’s Geography and Memory”. Over a period of 12 intensive days, participating students engaged in an interdisciplinary learning experience combining urban mapping, archival research, and audio-visual documentation. The program encouraged critical reflection on the tram as both an urban infrastructure and a cultural memory embedded in the city’s everyday life.

The summer school concluded with the “About the Tram” exhibition, where students presented their outcomes through short films, narrative maps, and interactive games. A selection of these works was subsequently showcased at the TAFL Center, in the presence of H.E. Mr. Lars Bo Møller, Ambassador of Denmark, along with a distinguished Danish delegation. This presentation highlighted the international relevance of the students’ work and the Lab’s contribution to innovative approaches in urban heritage interpretation.

CT Lab extends its sincere appreciation to the TAFL Center for hosting this valuable cultural exchange. This activity represents the beginning of a series of initiatives through which CT Lab, supported by Pro-GREEN-LABs, will continue to advance urban innovation, heritage preservation, and practice-based learning.

CT Lab Hosts Pro-GREEN-LABs Project Officer Visit:

CT Lab at the Faculty of Fine Arts was honored to welcome Ms. Eleonora Martinello, Project Officer of the Pro-GREEN-LABs project at the European Commission, during her visit to Egypt to meet Erasmus+ funded institutions. Accompanied by Prof. Dr. Nevin Gharib, Project Coordinator and Dean of the Faculty, the visit included a tour of the Faculty Museum and CT Lab, where the Lab’s technical facilities, research and educational activities, and recent progress were presented. Ms. Martinello reviewed the 3D printing facilities and examined selected lab outputs, reflecting the EU’s continued support for sustainable, innovative, and practice-based education.

IEEE Educational Activities Committee:

The Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport (AASTMT) hosted an international educational program in collaboration with the IEEE Educational Activities Committee, as part of joining the global “TryEngineering On Campus” initiative. The program aims to enhance engineering education for school students through hands-on learning, expert engagement, interactive workshops, AI-focused training sessions, and field visits to advanced academic facilities.

As part of the activities, participants visited the Environmental Design Lab (EDL) , where they were introduced to laser scanning technologies and 3D printing applications, gaining practical insight into digital fabrication and environmental design workflows.
